Outside-In Design
Design an easy to use Quiz Creator feature for the casual movie trivia player who wants to challenge their friends but doesn’t have the time to create questions from scratch.
Creating a lower barrier to entry for the UGC feature will increase engagement with the feature which will in turn drive up DAU, MAU and social participation as more players are able to challenge their friends.
As a casual movie buff that loves challenging my friends to trivia I want to be able to send my friends a quiz of movie trivia that will highlight those movie moments that bring back great memories.
My inability to find and collect questions into a quiz quickly will make this activity too frustrating and keep me from engaging with the feature.
Our inability to deliver a quick, fun feature will prevent casual film buffs from engaging their friends with new content reducing opportunity for monetizing within the app.
This feature is one of the primary features of the game and can be navigated to with the primary navigation bar in the header area.

The players quizzes are kept in Quiz packs just like the main quiz content. Editing and Creating utilize the same interface.
The original method of creating a quiz from scratch was left in as an option since the players who did engage with the original UGC system really liked the added challenge.

Because these questions were from the main library all puzzle types would be able to be used in the Quick Quiz Creator.
The actual question selection process is only 3 steps. There is a indicator in the upper right of the quiz builder panel.

Similar to the main trivia game we allow users to search by key word as they look for the perfect question.
They can also change the puzzle type with the widget in the upper left corner of the quiz builder panel.

Here the player sees the question as it will appear in their final quiz. The player chooses six questions. The widget bottom center shows the type of quiz in each slot and which slots are empty.

There are many usability questions that this interface brings up and a qualitative study would have been the next step.
Unfortunately the company closed its doors before we were able to implement and launch the new app.
