ReDesigning an End-to-End Experience

This project involved a ground up redesign of the original SceneIt? Facebook game. The original game was relatively flat in its structure with no added depth given to players as they return to play. A key feature to the redesign was to reward players for their progress by unlocking new content as they completed the available content.

Objectives:

Create a new SceneIt?Movies experience that is designed to take advantage of a full suite of Casual Online Gaming features. The original Facebook game used an inflexible architecture that didn’t easily allow for features that engage players to play longer, play more often and most importantly, allow players to easily hook up with their friends to challenge them on their movie trivia prowess.

Business Goals:

  • Improve the social engagement drawing in and creating a network Movie Trivia buffs.
  • Create a compelling progression pattern that will hook players to return to build their standing.
  • Increase Daily, Weekly and Monthly user metrics
  • Focus on the Content; actors, movies and genera front and center.
  • Improve the user experience around navigating the large library of content.

User Goals:

  • Challenging my movie trivia knowledge
  • Hooking up with fellow movie trivia buffs
  • Compete with my friends around movie trivia

Home Screen

The Quiz Library is the main view for the app.

    • Functions as a dynamic leaderboard
      • Your position shown in purple
    • Access individual friend stats and gifting function
    • Expand widget to access full friends list and other global social network options

      • Quizzes grouped into packs of 5 individual quiz rounds.
      • Completed rounds show green
      • Completing a pack give player rewards and allows them to unlock a locked pack.
        • Completed packs shown in gold with a gold star.

Quizes are organized into “Quiz Packs”. Completing a pack gives the player virtual currency to use on virtual goods. Selecting a pack from the library brings up the details of the quizzes contained within that pack.

The social widget is collapsed by default to allow for more space to be given to the content. In its collapsed state the player can select an individual friend to view and gift

The social widget is structured as a leaderboard. Expanded, the player has access to the sorting control that enables switching between Daily, Weekly or Lifetime scores.
